“…now that the Legislature has folded its tent and gone home.” We should add, “and the JFAC Committee has washed off the clown makeup.”
I knew trouble was brewing back when JFAC decided to split votes between the House and Senate. When one chamber passes a budget and the other one fails, it goes back to the chamber that voted it down. This process caused miscommunication between the chambers and wasted valuable time.
And again, when JFAC decided to attend to maintenance budgets first, then revisit each department’s budget for appropriations. I don’t understand the logic behind this. And of course, when it came to appropriations, the IFF crew tapped their fingers on the NO button way too many times. The Dems tried mightily to get sensible, humane bills passed, but it was like shoveling sh*t against the tide. Bless them for their hard work in reaching at least some of their goals during this brutal session.
The most puzzling procedure from JFAC was setting budgets before knowing what revenue would be. I just shook my head in disbelief. Who in their right mind does that?
No wonder the public gave our Legislature a resounding “F” in a recent Lewiston Tribune Poll.

As always. Thank you.
Sure glad I live in Minnesota!
