UPDATE: The Party Integrity Enforcement rule was not passed, but it was sent to a committee headed by KCRCC Chairman, Brent Regan. Here is what you need to know:
1. If this rule eventually passes, it will likely not be held up in court.
2. 95% of elections in Idaho are decided in the Republican Primary, which is a closed primary. If you are unaffiliated or registered with any other party, you cannot vote in the Republican Primary. This is important because the people who vote in May, make the choice for those who don’t. The extreme right does not have a majority, but they vote in every primary while traditional Republicans largely stay home.
3. Precinct races are critical and the winners decide the direction of the IDGOP Platform and Rules.
The moderate Republicans (a.k.a. real Republicans) must get the vote out for their primary. If they don’t, the far right faction will run them all out of the legislature. This year may be the last opportunity to wrest control from them.
I literally read this twice because I said to myself, “This can’t be right”. Sadly, it appears to be.
The irony is that this new rule will be supported by people who frequently mouth the word, “freedom” while simultaneously requiring an iron fist to enforce obeyance.
This is not the Republican Party, it’s a cancerous tumor. It’s time to remove or abandon it and become an Independent voter.

The group that’s getting together is making decisions that are hurting more and more Idahoans and at some point Idaho Republicans need to take back their party. And this includes Governor Little who had several times last session signed bills that he had told Idaho he didn’t believe in.
And yes, I am an independent voter, which means I can vote for the very best person, whether they are republican or democrat, which I really believe is the best way to go.
Unfortunately, a federal judge ruled the party could have a closed primary. The only way to bring back an open primary is to elect traditional, non far right Republicans to the county central committees. At the end of the day, precinct committeeman decide the direction of the party.
The real objective isn’t debate or principles—it’s obedience. Everyone is expected to sit quietly in their chair, butt cheeks clenched so tight you can’t hear a mouse fart.
This party politburo isn’t about conservatism or individual liberty; it’s about control. A small, self-selected inner circle—friends, donors, family—decides who’s acceptable, who you’re allowed to vote for, and who gets labeled a “real Republican.”
The irony is that this is the opposite of what Republicanism is supposed to be. Most people know it. But too many are either scared of being targeted or too uninformed to challenge it, so the loudest authoritarians fill the silence.
100% agree, Reid. That’s why those of us who are informed need to sound the alarm. We need to make sure our friends and family are voting in the Republican Primary where most elections are decided. The extreme right does have a cap of voters, but they show up for every election. When those of us who are traditional Republicans show up in large numbers, we win. NIC, Coeur d’Alene & Hayden city races show us that we can win.

Or the recent Bonneville County primary when a large number of precinct officers were unelected.
